John Bryant Williams

Mr. John Bryant Williams, 92, died on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. He was born in Narrows, VA, on April 23, 1925. He was preceded in death by his father, John Bryant Williams, Sr. and his mother, Grace Topper Williams. He was a 1943 graduate of Cranford (N.J.) High School. He continued his education for many years and received numerous higher education degrees from the following institutions: Stevens Institute of Technology, B.S. Mechanical Engineering Massachusetts Institute of Technology, B.S. Electrical Engineering Stevens Institute of Technology, M.S. Applied Mechanics Stevens Institute of Technology, M.S, Mechanical Engineer Rutgers University, M.S. Industrial Engineering He served in the US Navy from 1943-1948 when he was released to Inactive Duty as an Ensign into the Naval Reserves. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1951. He retired from Ingersoll-Rand Research Center in 1986 as New Venture Manager after 21 years. His numerous memberships included American Mensa, Operations Research Society of America, M.I.T. Alumni Association, Stevens Institute of Technology Alumni Association, Rutgers University Alumni Association, the National Model Railroad Association and the Classic Car Club of America. He was an avid reader and never missed an edition of the Wall Street Journal, Barron's, or the New Yorker. He had a special interest in model railroading and classic cars. A service will be held at the Birchlawn Mausoleum, Pearisburg, VA, at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill, SC, and Riffe's Funeral Services, Narrows, VA. His friends in Rock Hill who loved and cared for him want to express their deep appreciation to the medical team, administration and staff at Morningside Assisted Living Center for their care and friendship to him through the years.
