Johnathan "Lil' John" Thomas Boyd

Rock Hill - Johnathan "Lil' John" Thomas Boyd, 27, of 1808 Day Lily Lane, died Thursday, December 24, 2015, at his home in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, December 29, at 7:00 p.m. at Whitesell Funeral Home in Rock Hill with Rev. Jimmy Gregory officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home on Riverview Road.

Johnathan Boyd was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina on September 15, 1988. He was the second son of Michael Anthony Boyd, Sr. and Angela Gregory Boyd, and stepson of Michael Weygant.

John grew up in Rock Hill and went to Lesslie Elementary, Castle Heights Middle, and Rock Hill High Schools. He was a construction worker who primarily did framing, roofing, and painting. He loved to fish, canoe, camp, and play pool, horseshoes, and corn hole. He also enjoyed watching football with his Uncle Tommy and was a diehard Gamecocks, 49ers, and Panthers fan.

John loved his family and friends more than anything in the world. He was a jokester who brought laughter to everyone he knew and a daredevil who liked showing off, riding dirt bikes, and being the life of the party. He loved being around kids and always looked after the little ones in his life. John spent most of his time with his lifelong and best friend, Little Stanley, and his dog, Lettie. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, John is survived by a son, Walker Grey Hancock; brothers, Anthony and Brian Boyd; grandparents, Thomas and Christina Gregory; an uncle, Thomas Wayne Gregory; three aunts, Irma Sisk, Teresa McDonough, and Kelly Shelton; and his loving cousins.

Johnathan was preceded in death by his affectionate and caring grandmothers, Rachel Wells Gregory and Loretta Rhinehart Bailey, both of Rock Hill.
