Johnny Jacobs

Johnny V. Jacobs (JV) 96, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at Harbor Chase Assisted Living. Born in Scotland Co. NC on March 3, 1914, he was the son of the late Ed Jacobs and Delhia Cole Jacobs. As a young man, JV moved to Dillion, SC where he met and married his wife of 68 years, Annie. They moved to Rock Hill in 1944, as WWII ended. He worked at the Arcade Victoria Mill until his retirement in the 1970's. JV loved his God, family and being outside working in his flower and vegetable gardens. He was a long-time member of West End Baptist Church. He is the widower of the late Annie Turner Jacobs. Survivors include his sons Eugene M. Jacobs of Longs, SC, Jimmy E. Jacobs of Norway, SC and daughter Maxine J. Mauney of Charlotte, NC. Brother Cleveland Jacobs of Columbia, SC and sisters Jeanette (Dean) McDaniel of Rock Hill, Vera Austin of Jackson, MS and Lillian Swain of Cumberland, NC. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral will be 4:00pm Sunday July 18, 2010 in the chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd. Rock Hill, SC 29730. Family will receive friends one hour before the service. Private family burial will follow.
