Jon passed away unexpectedly at Piedmont Medical Center Fort Mill on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the age of 85. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 20, 1938, the son of the late Herman and Betty Freudenthal.
Surviving is his high school sweetheart and wife of 66 years, Rosemary, and their three daughters Linda (Will) Okey of Hilton Head, SC; Barbara (Jeff) Gephart of Chattanooga, TN; and Vicki (Bob) Stewart of Lenoir NC; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his three brothers David Freudenthal of Milwaukee, WI; Stephen (Mindy) Freudenthal of Spartanburg, SC; and Tim (Linda) Freudenthal of Wautoma, WI.
He was predeceased by his brother Phillip Freudenthal.
Jon received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 1972. That same year he moved his family to Rock Hill, SC and began his career at Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation in Charlotte, NC. Jon worked as a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer. Although he retired from Siemens Westinghouse in 1993, he continued to work as a consultant for the company at various locations. He enjoyed his many business trips to places including Mexico, China, and Germany. Jon officially retired in September 2018. The last 11 years, he and Rosemary loved spending most of their time at their North Carolina mountain home - taking care of 3 acres of land, woods, orchards, pond, ducks and creeks.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Living Water Chapel at Westminster Park (4000 India Hook Rd, Rock Hill, SC). Visitation will begin at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in Jon’s name to The National Parks Conservation Association, State Park of your choice, St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or the charity of your choice
