Jon T. Gregory

Jon T. Gregory, born April 11, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN died suddenly while swimming at the Rock Hill YMCA Nov. 13, 2008. He led an exemplary life for 70 years. In his youth he became an Eagle Scout, excelled in Track and Cross Country in High School and College. After graduating from Wabash Collage, Crawfordsville, IN he completed a master degree from Indiana University in Latin American Studies, which took him to Columbia and Brazil. In the 70s he was involved with real estate development in Colorado and managed a unique passive solar home in Ft. Collins, CO. He climbed all of the 14,000 ft. peaks while there. Jon came to Rock Hill, SC in 1985. During the following years Jon was active in teaching at York Tech and also taught a real estate course for CPCC. Recently the City of Rock Hill awarded Jon a contract to build energy efficient homes, which he was just completing. Jon is survived by his wife Daisy of 45 years, his brother James Gregory, his wife Ingeborg Gregory of New Bern, NC niece Sonia Gregory of Blue Bell PA, brother-in-laws Herialdo Tarozzo, Humberto Tarozzo and Elvio Tarozzo and many nephews and nieces all of Brazil. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Gregory will be held Sunday at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
