Joseph "Joe" Paul Jones

Joseph “Joe” Paul Jones, 61, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on January 15, 2025. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joe was born on July 24, 1963, in Canoga Park, California. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1981 in Dubuque, Iowa. Throughout his professional life, Joe was admired for his hard work, dedication, and his passion for helping others.

More than anything, Joe was a devoted father and grandfather. He cherished time spent with his children and grandson—sharing stories, playing games, plotting his next prank, and watching their favorite TV shows. Always there with a listening ear and heartfelt advice, Joe was a source of unwavering support and encouragement to his family.

Joe loved listening to music, especially the legendary Joe Walsh. Whether it was cranking up “The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys” or losing himself in the melodies of his favorite songs, music was one of Joe's greatest joys. His love for music was infectious, often bringing smiles and singalongs to those around him.

In his free time, Joe enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Carolina Panthers, going fishing and camping with loved ones, playing Euchre and cornhole, and exploring his talent for woodworking—especially crafting custom cornhole boards for family and friends. Known for his dry wit, one-liners, and dad jokes, Joe brought joy and laughter wherever he went. Joe loved his country and always proudly stood when the National Anthem was played. His enthusiasm for life and eagerness to share his knowledge left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Kim; his children, Cara Kennington (Tony) and Ian Jones (Alli); and his cherished grandson, Zane Kennington. He is also survived by his sisters, Sandy (Patrick) Towey and Sheri (Mark) Giegerich; his favorite Aunt Patricia “Pat” Koenig; several nieces, nephews, and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph “Chuck” Jones; his mother, Delpha “Becky” Jones; and his brother, Charles “Chuck” Jones.

The family would like to thank everyone who have helped them. Joe’s memory will be forever cherished by those who loved him. His kindness, humor, and steadfast love for his family will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A private celebration of life will be held for family and close friends at the Whitley Mills Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Riverview Hospice in Joe’s honor.
