Joseph Clyde Petroff

Joseph C. Petroff died peacefully on January 19, 2016 in Charlotte, NC at the age of 69.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Rita C. Petroff of Ft. Mill South Carolina, his son Brent Petroff and his wife Cheryl of Waxhaw, North Carolina, his son Todd Petroff and his wife Rae Ann of Matthews, NC, and his daughter Susan Woody and her husband Clint of Guyton, GA. Joe is also survived by eight grandchildren whom he adored, Kurt, Cael and Caroline Petroff, Aria Petroff, and Blake, Dylan, Haley, and Paige Woody. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph L. and Jacquelyn Petroff, and his infant daughter Kara Petroff.
Joe was born November 4, 1946 in Seattle Washington to Joseph L. and Jacquelyn Petroff. He graduated from Mansfield University where he earned his Master's degree in education. He married his wife Rita on August 21, 1971 and the couple lived in several locations in Pennsylvania including Pittsburgh before moving to Manchester. CT where Joe was the Executive Director of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of SE CT. Joe and Rita both retired in 2013 and moved to Fort Mill South Carolina. Joe will be remembered a kind and generous man who spent his professional life in the service of youth. His wife and children will remember him as a loving and devoted husband, and exceptional father who loved them, taught and supported them, and helped them pursue their life's goals

A celebration of Joe's life is scheduled for January 30, 2016 at 10:30 am at Crossroads Lutheran Church 8511 Shelly Mullis Road Indian Land, SC 29707. A reception will follow. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clayworks Studio and Gallery 4506 Monroe Road Charlotte, NC 28205 or Crossroads Lutheran Church.
