Joseph Coland Stokes, Jr.

Joseph Coland Stokes, Jr., 47, of 3057 Bachman Road, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Richland Memorial Hospital. A native of Columbia, Mr. Stokes was born August 13, 1961 a son of Stella Canty Stokes of Rock Hill and the late Joseph Coland Stokes, Sr. He was a self-employed painter and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Catawba. He was preceded in death by two brothers William Lonnie and Barry Dean Stokes. Surviving with his mother are five brothers Glenn Stokes of Rock Hill, Kenny Ray Stokes of Swanson, SC, Robert Lee Stokes of Batesburg-Leesville, Billy Joe Stokes of Kershaw and Daniel Stokes of Rock Hill; a sister Sandra Kay Black of Rock Hill. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00pm Thursday at Bass-Cauthen Fuenral Home and other times at the home of his mother 541 Charraw Town Drive in Rock Hill. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Stokes will be held Friday at 2:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church Cemetery with Mr. Eddie Stokes officiating.
