Joseph Michael Winters, Jr., 71, of 2303 McFarland Road, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011 at his residence. A native of Cresaptown, MD, Mr. Winters was born May 4, 1939 to the late Joseph Michael Winters, Sr. and the Norma G. Dawson Winters. He was a diesel mechanic up until his retirement at age 65. He and his wife are members of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister Rosalie Winters Chapman. Joseph Winters was the finest man this world has ever known. He taught his children the value of hard work and high morals. He went out of his way for anyone that needed a hand. He showed Jesus to whomever he came in contact. A hard worker, a loving husband and an awesome father. He left his mark on us all. He has gone to be with the Lord and we will miss him dearly. Mr. Winters is survived by his wife of fifty two years Judith Arlene Cain Winters; together they had four children Arlene Jo Faile. Loring Michael Winters, Angela Jones and Joseph M. Winters, III; four grandchildren Victoria Gaines, Richard Faile, Breana Adkins, Joseph M. Winters, IV and three great grandchildren Jillian Gaines, Temprince Gaines and Betty Faile; siblings Carl E. Winters of MD, Frances W. Becker of SC, Shirley W. Morgan of MD, Roger L. Winters of VA, Ronald K. Winters of MD, Ralph M. Winters of MD and Dian W. Reyes of PA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Thursday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Winters will be held Friday at 11:00am at Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Huddleston officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.
