Josephine Dutton Winkler, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, went to be with the Lord on December 18th, after battling cancer for almost 12 months. To know Jo was to have a forever friend and teammate, always on your side, and ready to shop. Although she endured many invasive procedures and treatments, she wore a beautiful smile and made it her job to stay positive, taking each step in stride, with beautiful grace. Born to the late Fred and Wanda Dutton, Jo found her life-long companion in David Winkler. Married for over 44 years, they raised 2 daughters together in Charlotte, NC. Devoted to her family and friends, Jo always had time to listen and lots of advice to offer. Jo was the best mother anyone could ask for, claims her daughters, Cyndi Winkler Clowney (Michael) and Holly Winkler Gaskins (Dean). Jo's biggest fans called her Grammy. She will be sorely missed by her grandchildren, whom she spoiled with great love and attention, Emily Paige Gaskins, Avery Caroline Clowney and Shaw David Clowney. Blessed with many siblings, Jo is survived by a sister who was like a daughter, Lydia Parlier, and 3 more sisters: Maxine Murdock (Johnson), Brenda Lyles, Phyllis Faile (Mickey). Jo is survived by one brother, Wayne Dutton and a special sister-in-law, Paulette. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Allen Dutton and Shea Dutton. Jo is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins. Adding to the list of others who will miss her include her "sister-friends," Julie McDaniel, Trish Rupert and Sandy Winkler. We would like to thank Dr. Pal and nurse, Christy at Levine Cancer Institute in Ballantyne, and Melody from Hospice for their loving care and support. Please join us in celebration of Jo's life at GraceLife Church, 705 Lakeview Dr., Pineville, NC 28134. Visitation will begin at 12:30 and the service will begin at 2:00, on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, 2275 India Hook Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to GraceLife Church's Cancer Care Ministry.
