Juanita Anne Dorsey

January 5, 1942 — July 5, 2016

Juanita Anne Dorsey, age 74, passed into the sweet arms of her Savior, Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Juanita was born January 5, 1942 in Berryville, Virginia, to the late Eldridge Wilson Catterton and Katheryne (Perks) Catterton. Juanita was a graduate of McLean High School where she excelled in choir and was quite an accomplished organist and pianist. Shortly after high school, Juanita married the love of her life, Carlos Dorsey Sr. They were married for 52 years. Juanita was a humble lady with talent and ability, which helped her excel at everything she put her hand to. She helped her husband start a natural foods business in the early 1970s, worked for several lawyers as a para legal secretary and in the last few years, before retirement, she worked as a real estate document processor. Juanita was devoted to each employer and helped make each business she was associated with a success. Juanita had a wide variety of interests. She was willing to be adventurous and try things that were out of the box. Juanita communicated to her family that she wanted to get her pilot's license and before the shock had worn off, she had accomplished that goal. Among her interests was a deep love of flowers and fine gardens, a love of reading, trips to Florida with her husband to watch the dolphins swim and to watch the manatee. In recent years, Juanita enjoyed bowling and playing Mexican Dominos. Juanita had the ability to see the good in any situation and to look for the best in each person she encountered. Juanita had many friends and many called Juanita friend. She worked side by side in ministry with her husband to reach out and help the down and out and disenfranchised. Only heaven will reveal the impact her life has had. Of all the accomplishments in Juanita's life, her greatest accomplishment is her family. Family was the most important part of Juanita's life. She loved deeply those that filled her home. No matter how hard she worked at other endeavors, her family had priority. Juanita, is survived by her three children; Robyn L. (Mike) Staton, Carlos N. (Wendy) Dorsey Jr and Rev. Todd M. (Mary) Dorsey; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Tim, Nate, Joseph, Nicholas, Thomas, Sam, Madison, Chandler and Ethan, as well as 6 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Interment will be at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina on Friday, July 8 at 10am and the memorial service will follow at Carolinas Cornerstone Church, Fort Mill at 4pm. Pastor Barry Yates will be officiating. *In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you make a donation to Carolinas Cornerstone's Benevolence fund.
