Karen S. Chappell, age 57, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday May 25, 2021 at Atrium Pineville Hospital in Charlotte. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 18, 1964 to Thomas Lynch and Carolyn (Smith) Sprinkler. She attended Abraham Lincoln High School in the Coney Island area of Brooklyn, N.Y. Karen worked in the healthcare field for 40 years.
Karen lived a life of peace, happiness and love. Karen had an unwavering and strong faith in God. She enjoyed her family, close friends and loved all children, biological or not. Karen enjoyed and took pride in dressing up and looking your very best at all times. No matter how you felt, get up, get dressed and put on a smile. She also enjoyed the beach and always wanted to be near the ocean.
Karen is proceeded in death by her only son, Maurice (Smith) Chappell Jr. and her father Thomas Lynch.
A memorial service will be held Saturday June 5 in the chapel of Palmetto Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Karen is survived by her husband and life partner of 40 years, Maurice Chappell; her children, Shavonn (Smith) Chappell, Shantee Chappell, and Chanel Chappell, along with her granddaughter who brought her great joy, Alani Henry.
Karen is also survived by her mother Carolyn (Smith) Sprinkler; siblings, Paula (Smith) Gibbs, Fred & Maryann Sprinkler and Alicia Sprinkler. She is also survived by mother in law Joyce Chappell; sister/brother in laws - Pamela (Chappell) & Milton Harvey; Michelle (Chappell) & Reuben Greene; Derrick Chappell and Craig Chappell. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family & friends whom she loved dearly and held close to her heart.
