Kathleen Margaret Mary Dineen

Kathleen Margaret Mary Dineen passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018, at the age of 74. Kathy, the youngest of six children, was born on November 20, 1943, in Auburn, NY, to the late Robert and Kathryn Smith. She left Auburn to begin working at Pan Am in 1961. There she met her husband, Michael Dineen, in 1976. Kathy and Mike were married in 1977 and later moved to central Florida, with their daughter, Shauna. She later worked at The Orlando Sentinel until her retirement after 25 years with the newspaper. Kathy loved the ocean, traveling the world, motorcycling with her husband and their cozy cabin in the woods. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her daughter and her grandchildren, who she spoiled and adored.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Michael John Patrick Dineen of Murphy, NC; her daughter and son-in-law, Shauna Kathryn and Joshua Martin Ranft of Fort Mill, SC; and her two grandchildren, Thomas Martin and Kathryn Anne. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Holcomb and Mary Lou Logan, as well as her brothers, Robert, Jim, and Dick Smith.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018, from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018, at 11:30am at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road, Fort Mill, SC.
