Kathleen Ann Loring Sullivan “Kitty,” 89, of Rock Hill, SC and formerly of Virginia and Maryland, passed away on May 25, 2022, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice and Community Care.
Born May 20, 1933, in North Providence, RI, she was the daughter of Merle F. Loring and Esther Irene Walters Loring.
She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in July 1952, where she met her husband, Walton J. Sullivan. They met in Mobile, Alabama, and married in Biloxi, Mississippi when they were serving at Kessler Air Force Base. She was honorably discharged in November of 1953, when she accompanied her husband to Anchorage, Alaska, to have their first child.
A loving mother, Kitty is survived by her children, Walton Sullivan, Jr. (Cathy Johnston) of KY, Robert Sullivan of VA, Jeffrey Sullivan of MD, Sean Sullivan (Diane) of MD, Patricia Sullivan Arter (Irvin) of SC, and Kathleen Sullivan Arban (John) of MD, twelve grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Walton Sullivan (June 7, 2020), and her faithful companion and dog, Annie (April 2021). She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Merle, Esther, and Carol.
After raising her six children and working as a legal assistant, receptionist, and medical biller, she cherished spending time with her family and frequent trips to Rangeley, Maine, and the beach. She was a gifted artisan, enjoying painting, writing, knitting, sewing, and making crafts. She had a sweet tooth and was a lover of blueberry pancakes, Klondike bars, blueberry muffins, chocolate shakes, moose tracks ice cream, and French fries, particularly sweet potato fries. In her last years, she valued serving the Lord as a member of the “Dream Team” at Impact Church, basking in the sun, watching the sunset over the water, and having a glass of wine. She enjoyed serving others, particularly food! She will be remembered for her strength, courage, capacity to love and stubbornness.
She wanted her children to remember her in this way, “I was a good mother. I loved each and every one of you with my heart and soul. I did the best I could, with what I had.”
