Kathleen “Kathy” Elaine Walker, age 65, of Fort Mill, SC passed away at home surrounded by family on Thursday, February 20th. She was born October 9, 1959, a daughter of the late Kenneth Lloyd Briggs and survived by her mother Janice Briggs.
Kathy was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, laughter and unwavering support for those around her. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her.
We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Kathy’s infectious spirit brought joy and laughter to so many. She never passed a chance to soak up the sun or to simply sit outside and enjoy a glass (or two!) of wine. She enjoyed running, traveling and being around her family and friends.
She took an active role in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Whether it was traveling to Fiji with her grandson Thomas and his parents for her first out of the country trip or picking up Kaitlyn, Dakota and Ayden for a short getaway to PA, Kathy was always committed to ensuring her grandchildren had opportunities for new experiences. She loved taking photos of their time together and making memories.
In addition to her mother, Janice Briggs of Washington, PA, Kathy is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Diane and TJ Collevechio of Fort Mill, SC and Helen Winchester of Cadiz, KY; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Nancy Briggs of Collegeville, PA, Scott and Denise Briggs of Lone Pine, PA; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Barb and Bryon Coffman of Columbia, SC, Mary Beth and Keith Maxwell of Prosperity, PA, Gerry Bell of Washington, PA; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews along with other family members and friends who were so dear to her. She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Lloyd Briggs, and younger sister, Ruth Bell.
Visitation and memorial services will be held at Palmetto Funeral Home, 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708. Viewing will be from 10-11am with the service to immediately follow. The family is hosting a luncheon at Napa at Kingsley at 12:30pm.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are for those who were there for us on the day of her passing. Also, a heartfelt thank you to the care team at the ALS clinic at Atrium Health and Hospice Group. We know she left this earth comfortable and surrounded by love. Should one wish to make a donation in Kathy’s memory in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made directly to the ALS Association.
