Kathy Elizabeth Shirley passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born April 29, 1944 in Rock Hill, SC as an only child to parents Jimmie Holland Shirley and JC Shirley and was raised by Kate and Chaz Holland.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Kate and Chaz Holland, parents Jimmie Holland Shirley and JC Shirley, daughter Julia Sweet, and many cousins. She is survived by her partner of ten years and primary caregiver Ralph Best; daughter Marie (Glenn) Williams; granddaughter and caregiver Rachel Williams; granddaughter Michaela Sweet (Luke Fauser); grandsons Lucas (Lauren) Williams, McKennley, and Ronan Walden; great-granddaughter Julia Rose Fauser, as well as many cousins who were like siblings to her.
After attending Rock Hill High School, she went to attend Tri-County Tech in Pendleton, SC and later went to further her education as a healthcare activities administrator in Toccoa, Georgia. She worked as an Activities Director at Magnolia Manor and Pruitt Health in Rock Hill, SC for 16 years where she retired to "playing" in her yard, assisting in planning family reunions, spending quality time with loved ones , and crafting, some of her favorite hobbies. She was also treasurer for the Fort Mill VFW Auxiliary for 2 years and then took the additional role of secretary for 4 years.
