Kim Siegel

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Kim Siegel, loving mother, daughter, sister and partner, died at age fifty-two in Rock Hill, SC. Kim was born on August 29, 1971 to mother Avis Stella and Father Erol Hernandez in New York City. She shared a birthday with pop star, Michael Jackson, and she never let us forget it.

Kim was widely known for her friendly nature. She would frequently chat up strangers in public spaces: elevators, convenience stores, local parks - there was no stopping her. She had the rare ability to connect with every person she encountered in a meaningful way. She had so much to say, it was impossible to get off a phone call with her. She always had just one more thing to cover. She was also known for her intensity in advocating for herself or for what she believed was right. For better or for worse, there was almost no limit to what Kim would do to get her point across.

Kim was a fun-loving person. She was an avid football watcher and might just have been the biggest NY Giants fan on earth. She frequently brought up her fondest memories from the past with her family and friends, from listening to top 80s hits in her car to living with her petite cat Ashley who, for a while, hated everyone. While she had close ties with so many people, she kept in closest contact with her son and her mom, both of whom she called almost every single day.

In recent years, she encountered personal struggles which ultimately led to her untimely death.  Kim’s physical ailments caused her pain and wore down her ability to work and cope with challenges. She sought peace where she could. While no one wanted her life to end as abruptly as it did, we take some solace in knowing that she's no longer suffering, and we remember her at her best.

Kim is survived by her parents Avis, Erol, and Jon, son Gavin, siblings Erica, Lauren, Jillian, and Erol Charles, and her long-term partner Mark.
