His immediate aunts and uncles are Chad Beightol, Shane Beightol, Chris and Amanda Fletcher, Melissa Boyce, and David and Devon Morgan. His cousins: Cole, Elijah, Micah, Zachary, and Cory and his nephew, Mason Curry and niece Hailey Curry.
Kirk was an accomplished QB earning many accolades as a high school four-year starter. In his senior year he earned a spot in the South Carolina Shrine Bowl. North Greenville University took notice of Kirk and offered him a scholarship. Kirk always believed he was good enough to play Division 1 football, so after his freshman year, he left NGU.
There was no transfer portal at the time so his journey took him to Brooklyn, New York to play for ASA Junior College. After his year at ASA Kirk earned a PWO (preferred walk-on) at University of South Florida. There he started out 7th on the depth chart and by the start of the season he had passed the other scholarship quarterbacks and made his way up to 3rd on the depth chart. He played in multiple games and threw touchdowns against UCONN and East Carolina University.
USF went through a complete coaching change, and Kirk realized he needed to move on. By this time the transfer portal was created and the University of Montana saw his film and knew they wanted him. They offered him a full scholarship and brought him in to compete for the #1 QB spot.
Unfortunately, Covid happened and the 2020 season was canceled. After the spring off-season in 2021 he decided to pursue other interest.
He loved golf and started going to the range and practicing just like he had on the football field. Although he was a great athlete and loved many sports, he had so many more interest. He loved making desserts, baking different types of bread, taste testing desserts, playing board games and cards with his family, writing music, listening to music, dancing, painting, going for walks, being in nature, and loving on animals.
Kirk was so much more than what he did. His journey took him from South Carolina to New York to Florida and to Montana. Along the way he developed lifelong friendships and touched so many lives. Whether he was inspiring people in the locker room to chase their dreams or looking out for someone who needed a friend - Kirk Rygol, Jr put wind in many sails. He will be missed dearly!
