Larry C. Hunt, DC, 56, of Fort Mill was blessed to go see his Lord and Savior this week while a patient at the Hospice & Community Care Center in Rock Hill. Larry was born in Kewanee, Illinois to Donald F. and Dolores A. Hunt. After high school, Dr. Hunt joined the USAF for about 8 years of active duty and then one year in the Illinois Air National Guard.
He is survived by his devoted wife Patricia Hunt, mother, Dolores and step-father James Wells; four sons TSgt Bryan Hunt USAF (Megan), Christopher Hunt (Heather), Robert Hunt (Amanda) and Mark Hunt, one grandson, Christopher Hunt II. He is also survived by four brothers, Tunis Hunt DC. (Dianna), Kim Hunt DC. (Beverly), Reverend Steve Hunt (Janet) and finally his very close and specially loved brother and wife, MSgt Donald Hunt USAF Ret. (Lisa).
Larry was preceded in death by his Father, Donald F. Hunt. Also preceded in death by all of his Grandparents, two Aunts, one Uncle and one younger Cousin.
His military service included Korea, Andrews AFB and finally as the NCOIC of the USAF Dental Clinic located in the Pentagon. While at the Pentagon he treated the top enlisted personnel, as-well-as Colonials, Generals, Admirals, a few members of Congress and a couple of the Secretaries of Defense. While serving in the IL. Air National Guard he was the NCOIC of the Pharmacy.
Dr. Hunt went to multiple Community Colleges and Universities before graduating Magna Cum Laude from Logan College of Chiropractic. Dr. Hunt worked as a Chiropractic Physician in the Charlotte area from April of 1989 until July of 2012. He served several years as both the Vice President and President of the South Central District of the NC Chiropractic Association.
Larry loved to serve people and was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, friend and doctor. One of his greatest joys was working in the infant nursery at his church where he and his wife were blessed to make it possible for parents to be able to worship without having to worry about their precious babies. He also loved to read, especially the bible his pastor gave him a few years ago, and his summers were not complete without body surfing at the beach.
A Celebration of Larry's life will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, August 15, 2015 in the sanctuary of Fort Mill Church of God with Bishop David L. Kemp officiating with Military Honors by the US Air Force. The family will gather prior to the service at 10:30 AM to greet friends.
In Lieu of flowers, Dr. Hunt request memorials be made to the Ft. Mill Church of God Children's Missionary Funds at 221 Academy Street, Ft. Mill, SC 29715.
