Laurance Malara

July 27, 1949 — November 19, 2012

Rock Hill - Mr. Laurance Malara, 63, of 3421 Pine Hill Road, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at Piedmont Medical Center.

Memorial services to celebrate his life will be 2 PM Sunday, November 25th, at his residence, 3421 Pine Hill Rd., Rock Hill, S.C., 29732, with Rev. Colleen Tiffany officiating.

Laurance Malara was born in Paterson, New Jersey on July 27th, 1949 and he is the son of Volo Malara and Julia Homer Malara.

He and his wife Deborah were married on July 28th, 1978 and spent 34 loving years together raising 4 children and many wonderful dogs.

Larry was a proud Disabled Veteran of the United States Air Force.

He grew up in Utica, New York where he attended Whitesboro schools, Mohawk Community College and was a graduate of Riverside School of Aeronautics. After working for United Technologies out of Connecticut he moved his family to Columbiana, Ohio where he worked for US Airways at the Pittsburgh Airport. In Columbiana Larry was an active member of The First Presbyterian Church, a member of the American Legion, he spent ten years volunteering hundreds of hours with his daughter's 4-H group, as well as having an active roll in his children's various sports teams and other activities.

Larry and his family relocated to South Carolina in 2007 but he would always think of Columbiana as his home.

Larry had recently retired from 24 years at US Airways this past October and was able to spend several weeks with his family, to which he lovingly devoted his entire life. Larry was a dedicated and wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, neighbor and friend. He was a kind man and will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah White Malara; two sons, Sean Tiffany and J.R. Malara (Chelby); two daughters, Colleen Tiffany (Janice Ross) and Annie Malara; one brother, Patrick Malara; three grandchildren, Landen Malara, Ogee Malara, and Dominic Laurence Griffith; his nephew Volo Malara (Stephanie); his sister in law, Cynthia Cowley; and his father in law, Leon J. White.
