Lawrence Wallace Ghent

Mr. Lawrence Wallace Ghent, 60, of 217 Waterside Trail passed away August 4, 2010 at his residence. A native of Rock Hill Mr. Ghent was born on October 26, 1949 to the late Gerald and Mary Joe Ghent. He was currently teaching engineering and architecture courses at York Technical College. Mr. Ghent graduated from Clemson University in 1976 with a BA in Architecture. After his studies at Clemson University he went on to attend the University of California at Berkeley where he pursued a masters degree in his field. He had a passion for building; beginning with tree houses with his brothers in his youth, to residences in California, hotels and movie theaters nationwide, and finally his dream home on Lake Wylie. Mr. Ghent is survived by his wife of 41 years Mrs. Martha Ghent; two sons Bryan Ghent of York and Derek Ghent of Charlotte; two brothers Bruce Ghent and Gerald Ghent, Jr. both of Rock Hill; and one sister Susan Oliver of Greer. A private family service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ghent will be held at a later date.
