Lawrence James Morahan

Mr. Lawrence J. Morahan, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away on August 16, 2016 on Hilton Head Island. The son of Lawrence P. and Rae Marie Morahan, he was born in Denver, CO on April 7, 1941.

Mr. Morahan served 22 ½ years in the US Army and retired in December of 1981. After retirement he continued to work hard in several career endeavors including as a carpenter working on custom homes, a Senior Executive for a foreign language development company, in telecommunications and as a loan processor at a mortgage company. In 2006 he permanently retired and relocated to Fort Mill, SC, where he spent his time volunteering for the local Humane Society thrift store, playing golf, reading and playing with his cat, Henry.

He is survived by his wife, Anja and his 4 children Debbie, Sandy (Ray), Mike (Liz), and Mark (Erin), his 9 grandchildren Jason, Jennifer, Katie, Nathan, Michael, Sarah, Robbie, Christopher and Nick (Emma), and 2 great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Brinley.
He was the oldest of 8 children and was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Shirley and Sharrie. He is survived by his brothers Dan (Mary), Michael (Judy), Jerry (Judy), Tom (Cindy) and his sister Kathy (John) Saulton.

Mr. Morahan was a kind and selfless man with a quirky, dry sense of humor. He was a man of honor and avoided the limelight. He loved his family dearly and took great pride in their accomplishments. He was loved by all he came in contact with and will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held in September in Fort Mill, SC and next spring in Colorado.
