Lester Lewis

Lester C. Lewis, of Rock Hill passed away January 19th, 2015, after a battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was 86. A native of Shulerville, SC, Lester was the eldest child of the late Joe Clayton Lewis and the late Mary Mae White Lewis. Lester was employed by the Celanese Corporation from 1949 until 1969. He then became self-employed, doing various handy man jobs and managing his rental properties. Lester is survived by his wife of 65 years, Geraldine "Jerry" Mullinax Lewis, his son Curtis Lewis of Rock Hill, his granddaughter Jennifer Lewis Harlan and husband Alan and great granddaughter Raegan of Eatonville, Washington and his grandson Tyler C. Lewis of Olympia, Washington. Three brothers Samuel J. Lewis and wife Kay of South Boston, VA, Furman E. Lewis and wife Barbara of Blackstock, SC, Mendel L. Lewis and wife Sherri of Catawba, SC and his sister Alma L. Hyatt. Lester was preceded in death by his sisters Vera Elizabeth Lewis and Evie Lewis Schultz. Visitation will be at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home on Wednesday,January 21 from 4-6 P.M. Graveside service and burial will be at 11 A.M. Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Grand View Memorial Park on South Cherry Road with Pastor Jerry Catledge officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Pentecostal Holiness Church at P.O. Box. 3207, Rock Hill, S.C. 29732. Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.
