Linda Christine Burns, age 75 of Tega Cay, SC, and formerly of Penfield, NY, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Born in Syracuse, NY on October 20, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Anne MacArthur. She is survived by her loving & devoted partner, Lindsey Embrey, of 28 years. They together owned and operated Embrey’s Liberty Hollow for 17 years.

She received her education from Nazareth College, Rochester NY in Elementary Education and a certification in secondary education at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. She started her career as an English teacher at Saint Thomas Moore Elementary School in Rochester, NY. Then, worked at Liberty Hollow with her partner for a while and moved to South Carolina where she worked at the Tega Cay Country Club. She volunteered to read for the Adult Basic Education program at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC.

Later, she wrote a grant for the E-Lit program, helping put computers in peoples homes and teaching GED by internet. She continued her career at Olympic High School where she taught basic skills via computer to others. She eventually retired and finished her teaching career as an English teacher at Ardery Kell High School.

She spent much of her free time playing croquet with her friends, boating, fishing, gardening, and cooking, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Linda was known for her kind spirit and happiness. She always welcomed anyone with open arms.

Surviving in addition to her partner are her children, Robert Burns and his wife Carlyn Burns, Susan Hackney and her husband Paul Hackney, her step-daughter Jody Frizzera and her husband Mark Frizzera and her other step-daughter Karen Due Theilade. Additionally, her 7 grandchildren, Austin, Zach, Cassidy, Natalie, Lily, Harrison, and Freia.
