Rock Hill

Rock Hill, SC - Linda Lee Safrit Sutton passed away peacefully Monday morning, November 4th, 2024.  A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery, 4290 Old York Rd, Rock Hill, SC, on Friday, November 8th, 2024, at 10:30 am.  Visitation will follow.  Pastor Jonathan Pannell of Emmanuel Nazarene Church will perform the service.

Linda was the daughter of Clarence Bernard “Bud” Safrit and Elva Olene Sisk.  She was born in Rowan County, NC, but moved to Ft. Mill shortly after. She was the granddaughter of John Thomas Sisk and Martha Jane Dalton, who raised her.  John Sisk founded Second Baptist Church in Ft. Mill, SC.  Second Baptist would become Sisk Memorial after his passing.  Her father Bud was a career Army man, attaining the rank of Master Sargent.  Her uncle Harry Lee Safrit, who gave her the middle name, was a Platoon Sargent and lost his life during WW II.

Linda was raised in this church and took great pleasure singing hymns in church and with the several family gospel groups.  She married Tom Sutton, and they had three children, Tommy, Jr., Kim, and Candy.  When they told John and Martha that they had married, Martha replied that she had been thinking about letting them stay out until 10 pm on their dates.  Linda held several jobs that she was very proud of in her life.  She worked security at the Duke Power Catawba Nuclear Plant and at Thermalkem Industries.  She later was a dispatcher for many years at the City of Rock Hill Police Department.  She was a very beautiful woman and modeled in her early life.  Linda and Candy did photo shoots for various magazines and television commercials, as well as live clothing and sportswear modeling. They followed in the steps of Linda’s Aunt Ruth who was a New York model her entire life.

Linda was preceded to heaven by her daughter Kim and her Grandson Levi. She is survived by her son, Tommy Sutton Jr (Becky); daughter, Candy Lucas (David); grandchildren, Tommy Sutton, III, Johnthomas Sutton, Maggie Belle Sutton, Billy Jack Sutton, Dalton Boozer, Collin Boozer; and 10 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, 115 Massey St, Ft Mill, SC 29715 in Linda’s name.
