Linda Gantt Thomas of Edgemoor, South Carolina, peacefully passed away to her heavenly home at age 65, on Thursday, June 25, 2021, surrounded by her beloved family in her home. Linda bravely fought endometrial cancer from 2018 until her passing.
Linda was born in Chester, SC, on December 13, 1955, to Mr. Bill Gantt and Mrs. Evelyn Gantt. She was also the sister to Bruce and Billy Joe Gantt. Linda married her loving husband Jimmy Thomas of Edgemoor, SC, on June 28, 1986, in Chester, SC. They have been happily married for nearly 35 years where enjoyed her role as a wife. The love they shared for each other and our Savior permeated their entire marriage as they raised their three children Alex, Renee, and Rebecca. Linda also loved being Mema to her grandchildren Olivia, Charlotte, and Dawson.
Linda was a 1974 graduate of Chester Senior High School. Linda attended Chester’s Vocational School where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1976. Linda worked in geriatrics as an LPN for 16 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom so she could focus on raising her children. Linda later became a home health aide where she continued to be a caregiver for over eight years before retiring to work at WalMart where she enjoyed working with her friends and serving others until her cancer diagnosis in late 2018.
Linda decided to follow Christ as her Savior when she was twelve years old and has continued to serve the Lord both at church, in her home, and her community. Linda was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC, for over thirty years. Linda ensured that her children knew the Lord by faithfully bringing them to church but more importantly by partnering with her husband to disciple her children each day in their home. As a result of hers and her husband’s faithfulness to God, all three of her children know and serve the Lord to this day. Linda sought ways to obey The Great Commission through sacrificially giving to the church, The Billy Graham Association, and various missionaries. In addition to giving, all of Linda’s life portrayed the sacrificial, unconditional love of Christ in everything she did. The family is grateful to know that Linda is in the arms of her Savior in her heavenly home today.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Thomas; her children, Alex Thomas (Jennifer Thomas, daughter-in-law), Renee O’Neil (David O’Neil, son-in-law), and Rebecca Ryan (Brett Ryan, son-in-law); her grandchildren, Olivia Thomas, Charlotte Thomas, and Dawson O’Neil; her mother, Evelyn W. Gantt; and her siblings, Billy Joe Gantt (Debi Gantt, sister-in-law) and Bruce Gantt (Leigh Gantt, sister-in-law). Linda is also survived by other loving family members of which there are too many to list. Linda is predeceased by her loving father, Bill Gantt and other loving family members with whom she is now celebrating the love of Jesus in heaven.
