Lloyd M. Priester, 93, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Atrium Health Hospital in Pineville, NC. He was born February 26, 1926 in Rimersburg, PA in Clarion County, son of the late Russell and Blanch Priester.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Ophelia (Jones) Currie Priester and Arlene (Bochert) Priester; stepson, Albert Currie; brothers Dean, Vaughn and William Priester and sisters, Evelyn Maynard and EmmaJean Gorman.
Mr. Priester proudly served his country in the United States Navy Seabees in Okinawa, Japan during WWII building air strips and roads for the Allied Airforce. He retired in March of 1990 from Standard Slag Co. after 43.5 years.
He was a member of the Salvation Army where he played in the band for 55 years, Vision Support Group and Mahoning Valley Landlord Association. An active volunteer, Mr. Priester served as Sunday School teacher and in other capacities for Hubbard Church of the Nazarene and Morning Star Fellowship Church. When time permitted, he spent his time remodeling homes.
He is survived by his four children, David C. Priester (Trina) of Pleasant Gap, PA, James D. Priester of Girard, OH, Donald L. Priester of Youngstown, OH and Mary Sue Castillo (Ricardo) of Fort Mill, SC; stepson, Melvin Currie (Shirley) of Baltimore, MD; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many much loved nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Hubbard Church of the Nazarene, 1815 Cherry Lane, Hubbard, OH 44425. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
