Lois Thomas Ryder

Lois passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on April 21, 2023, at her home in Fort Mill, surrounded by her family at the age of ninety.

Lois graduated from Penn Commercial Business School in 1951. Her favorite job was working for the United States Navy in DC, from 1958-1961, including the Special Projects Polaris Missile Program under the direction of the Admiral. Lois worked various jobs to help provide for her family. Volunteering came naturally to Lois, and she served as a leader for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, room mother, band boosters, various church committees, meals on wheels, and backstage manager for The Carolina Copy Cats. She enjoyed making memory albums and quilts for her family, visiting, and serving others. Her love for her family and others was evident in  her words and actions as was her love for Jesus. She cherished her time with her family and loved talking about her children and grandchildren. Lois was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Fort Mill

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Roscoe Thomas and Dora Milhoan Thomas Livingston, her brothers, James Thomas, and Richard Thomas. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill, son Stephen of Urbana, IL and his children Johnathan Ryder and Heather Ryder, daughter Diane Dulin (Roger) of Fort Mill, SC and their children, Amber Hennighan (Zac) and Spencer Dulin, and daughter Laurie Ryder of Hobart, IN; great grandchildren, Aerial Ryder, Liam Worthen, Zayne Ryder, Domanick Ryder and Riley  Hennighan; brothers, Howell Thomas and David Thomas; as well as several nieces and nephews.
