Lorenzo McClanahan, 59, of 175 Mackey Lane passed away Wednesday June 27, 2012 at his home. A native of Catawba, Mr. McClanahan was born November 19, 1952, son of Bernice Mackey McClanahan of the home and the late Ray Thomas McClanahan, Jr. He was a retired conductor of Norfolk Southern Railroad and a member of Catawba Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Mr. McClanahan was a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving in addition to his mother are his siblings, Frank McClanahan and his wife Ora of Lancaster, Dexter McClanahan and his wife Deborah of Atlanta, Ga, Reginald Culp and his wife Emmajean of Columbia, Ester McClanahan of Catawba, Marlowe McClanahan of Catawba and Bernita Gray and her husband Jimmy of Catawba. The family will greet friends from 6-7pm Sunday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. McClanahan will be held Monday at 2pm at Catawba Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with Pastor Loretta English officiating. Military honors will be conducted in the church cemetery following the memorial service.
