Lorraine Porcelli, 84, of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Bay Shore, NY, peacefully went to be with the Lord, Monday, April 1, 2024 at home, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born March 8, 1940 of Brooklyn NY, daughter to the late Gus and Tillie Sanfilippo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Sanfilippo and nephew Charles Sanfilippo.
Lorraine had a flair for entertainment and was a caterer for many years. Cooking was her passion and loved use the family as guinea pigs for new recipes. The table was always set up as if the Queen herself would be attending. There was always a wooden spoon around to stir what was in the pot on the stove.
She was the proud owner and operator of Lorraine Tours. She packed dozens on buses and planes for gambling tours to Vegas, Atlantic City, Baltimore, and Foxwoods. There wasn’t a bingo hall on the east coast she didn’t know about. She had a huge extended bingo family, where her passion for cooking rolled over onto the bus trips.
Most important to her was her family and she will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by her survivors, her husband of 64 years, Louis Porcelli. Her son, Tom Porcelli and wife, Patti of Tega Cay, SC. Granddaughter Kiersten Johnson and husband Zach, and granddaughter Taylor Porcelli. Great-grandchildren Kaleigh Elizabeth Rose, Ryleigh Grace and Jordan Zachariah. Sisters Catherine Sanfilippo, Bernice Sanfilippo, Marie DelliPaoli and husband George, and Agnes Alfieri and husband Gus. Nieces Christina and Lori and nephew Michael.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 3pm, followed by a memorial service.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the hospice nurses and aides for their unwavering compassionate and supportive care that was provided. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
