Louis A. Kuchinic, Jr.

Tega Cay, SC Louis A. Kuchinic, Jr. age 85 of Tega Cay died in his home after hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer within days of his pinnacle achievement, the dedication of the new St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church. Born November 17th 1927 the eldest of five sons of Louis and Anne Kuchinic. Lou served in the US Navy for 2 years after graduating high school. He graduated from the University of Pittsburg in Mining Engineering at 21 years of age and married Rosemary Miller in 1950. Lou worked for US Steel Corporation for 35 years following with Penn Resources and North American Coal. Lou served as Board Member of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers and as President of the Society of Mining Engineers. Lou and Rosemary retired to Tega Cay, SC in 1985. During retirement Lou served on Tega Cay City Council and as Mayor Pro Temp of Tega Cay, he belonged to Tega Cay Men's Breakfast . Lou also served on the Board of Pilgrims Inn and was Financial Advisor. Lou was instrumental in helping father John Giuliani build the St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Parish in Tega Cay where he served last as Chief Financial Officer. Lou is survived by his wife: Rosemary and three son's Mark, Lee and John, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorial Mass will held 11 AM Saturday, May 11th 2013 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with Father John P. Giuliani, C.O. officiating. The family will greet friends following the service with a reception at the church fellowship center at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. In Lieu of Flowers Memorial may be sent to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road, Fort Mill, SC 29708 or Serenity Palliative and Hospice Care, 223 South Herlong Ave, Suite 110 Rock Hill, SC 29732.
