Mrs. Lynne Kniesly Tarleton died in her home on May 18, 2017 in Fort Mill. SC due to complications from Parkinson's a Disease. She was born on January 11, 1941 in Logansport, IN to her parents Norbert and Harriet Kniesly. She graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Elementary Education in 1963 and later received her Masters of Human Development and Learning at UNC Charlotte in 1983. Lynne started her career teaching in Colorado and then was accepted into a program with the Department of the Army to teach the children of military families stationed overseas. She was assigned to RAF (Royal Air Force) Bentwaters in England and taught there for two years. While there, she met and later married Neal Tarleton after they had both returned to the U.S. After Neal's discharge from the Air Force, they moved to Charlotte, NC where Lynne taught for a number of years in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and then later in the Union County Public Schools retiring in 2007. Lynne loved teaching children and was trained to be a Reading Recovery Teacher, a passionate skill that she used to help many children that struggled to learn to read.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Neal Tarleton of Fort Mill, SC; her daughter Kelly McCarty and her husband Chris of Fort Mill, SC; her daughter Meagan Dellinger and her husband Mike of Charlotte, NC; her 4 granddaughters, Madison McCarty, Kendall McCarty, Annika Dellinger, and Adelind Dellinger; her brother, Bill Kniesly of Lafayette, IN.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday evening May 25, 2017 at 6pm from Palmetto Funeral Home Chapel with Father Harold Vandeveer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
