Born in Worcester, MA and raised in Shrewsbury, MA, Marcia graduated from Shrewsbury High School and Westbrook Junior College. She was a Girl Scout, a field hockey player, member of the prom court, and camp counselor at Camp Takodah. Shortly after college she met and married a naval aviator and her life of adventure began. She lived a fulfilling life as the wife of a military man, while giving her time to the service of other wives of servicemen, and cared for her daughters while moving around the country. In her next phase, After meeting and marrying Larry later in life, that adventure just increased. In her entire lifetime, Marcia moved more than 35 times living in Florida, California, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Texas and Alabama. She traveled to Bermuda, Italy, Spain, the UK, and all around the United States, including multiple cross country car trips with her family. She always immersed herself in each community where she lived, made new friends easily, and especially enjoyed coastal living.
Wherever she was, Marcia created a warm and welcoming home filled with good food, an array of music, thriving plants, sewing and knitting projects, and laughter. During her life she was a realtor, chemical buyer, bookkeeper, teacher, and secretary. Mostly she was a magnet for people who benefited from her listening ear, caring advice, warm hands, and feisty personality.
Marcia survived tornadoes, hurricanes, breast cancer, and a pandemic. Despite her strong will and faith in God, she was not able to overcome the power of dementia. Her family would like to thank the teams at the Blake at Baxter Village, Wellmore Tega Cay, and Via Hospice for their care and support of Marcia in her final months.
Marcia can be best remembered through donations to the Alzheimer’s Association , or through demonstrations of love for your plants, pets, and people. A private memorial will be held in the near future.
