Margaret Bishop Black

Rock Hill, SC – Margaret Bishop Black, age 84, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her husband and children on Sunday, August 28, 2022.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 1 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rock Hill Ward, 1883 Saluda Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.  The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 2 also at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rock Hill Ward.  Burial will be in Denmark Cemetery.

Margaret was the daughter of the late William Wallace Bishop and Mary Robertson Bishop, and she was the wife of Willis Valmore Black for over 68 years. In addition to her husband, Margaret is survived by her children, Bill Black (Sandy), Rick Black (Laura), David Black (Tammy), Colette Simon (Jeff), Ron Black (Tosh), 31 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Margaret was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, and Mimi.  Her family was her life and she loved them completely and unconditionally.  In addition to serving her family, she selflessly served over 43 years in the Cub Scout Organization serving in various positions in the district.  Through her dedication and commitment to the Scouting Program, she earned the Silver Beaver Award, the most prestigious award given in South Carolina.  She spent the majority of her life providing service to youth and making a profound impact on their lives.

Margaret was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in Primary (Children’s program) and taught generations of children, assisting in the nurturing of their spiritual development.  She loved the Lord and it showed in the way she treated others.

In addition to loving her family, Margaret loved travelling to the beach and mountains, shopping, hosting family parties, and Elvis Presley.


The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the physicians, nurses, and staff of Epic Care Health and PruittHealth at Home for their dedication and compassionate care.
