Margaret Juanita Godfrey

Mrs. Margaret Juanita Godfrey, 80, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. A native of Cheraw, SC she was a daughter of the late Henry Clay and Mae Etta Thompson. Born September 22, 1931 she worked in textiles for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Sidney Heyward Rabon and her second husband Vernon Cornelius Godfrey. Surviving are her children Brenda Rabon Waldrop and her husband Lester of Catawba, William "Bill" Rabon and his wife Judy of York, Kenneth Wayne Rabon and his wife Sue of Catawba, Teresa Rabon McCoy of York; one brother John Howard Thompson of Rock Hill; twelve grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. A service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held Tuesday at 1:00pm at Unity at Calvary Church of God on Hollis Lakes Road with her grandson the Rev. Kenneth Rabon, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30pm on Monday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, and at other times at Brenda and Lester's home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Margaret's honor to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
