Margaret Blanche Cox Harker

Margaret Cox Harker, (Marg), 91, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away on August 27, 2017 peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Margaret Blanche Cox was born October 1, 1925 in Hespler, Ontario, Canada to the late Martha and James Cox. She is predeceased by brothers and sisters Edith Rhodey, Mary Jane (Jen) Greenwood, Edna Stahlbaum, Percy Cox, Effie Barrie, George Cox, Violet Thomson, William Cox and Mildred (Min) Rainey. She is also predeceased by her former husband John Miles Harker. She is survived by her sister Shirley Brent, her children John Harker, Robert Harker, Laura Harker and Karolyn (Harker) Dehn, her grandchildren Alexander Harker, Connor Harker and Ryan Millett, her son in law Martin Dehn and daughter in law Kelli Harker. She is also survived by Tamara DePanicis, from which she had taken into her home from age 13 and loved her as her own daughter and was later blessed with granddaughter, Kayla DePanicis.

Having come from a family of 11 children, Margaret is also survived by an enormous extended family of literally scores of nephews, nieces, cousins and 2nd and 3rd cousins.

In 1955 she met and married the love of her life, John Miles Harker and settled in South Florida to begin her new life as a loving and giving wife and mother.

Along with being a wonderful homemaker, she was a friend of nature and the great outdoors, Margaret became an avid gardener where she collected and grew beautiful orchids, fruit trees and exotic plants, and maintained vegetable gardens throughout her life. Being such a creative lady, she always had arts and crafts projects in the making, creating beautiful hand sewn, knitted or crocheted clothing for her children and relatives. She made and collected dolls and Muppets for her children, nephews and nieces.

After she moved to Florida she enjoyed the Canadian "Snow Bird's" dream life of living in Florida during the winters and summering in Canada with her family.

A small intimate memorial will be held at her home in Rock Hill South Carolina Friday, September 1st, 2017. A memorial service will be held in Canada in the spring of 2018 to be arranged. Margaret will be loved and missed by everyone's heart she touched. Anyone that knew her understands that there were many facets to her life and these are but a few to this gem of a woman.
