Margaret Eva Moss Smith

Evie Moss, 59, passed away at her home on March 13, 2018. Services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 3:00 on March 18, 2018 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd. in Rock Hill, SC with the Rev. Val Rosenquist of the First United Methodist Church of Charlotte, NC officiating. Born in York County on March 4, 1959, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Lewis Moss and the late Blanche Hancock Moss of York. As a student, Mrs. Smith enjoyed playing the clarinet in the York Band and the piano in the Jazz Ensemble for concerts. She graduated from York High School and went on to get a degree in Music at Winthrop University. Music was the focus of her life, as were her husband, family, and friends. She was also very attached to her much loved pet Schnauzers. Being a wonderful cook, she enjoyed sharing her abilities at family gatherings where her way with words and keen sense of humor also brought enjoyment. She is survived by her husband, Thomas B. Smith, her sister, Pat G. Hodnett (Jim), her two brothers, Charlie Moss (Becky) and Lew Moss (Joyce), and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends after the service at the Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of York County, 8177 Regent Parkway, Fort Mill, SC, 29715.
