Margaret Ann Allen Tice

Margaret Ann passed on September 21, 2023 at The Grove in Rock Hill, SC. She was born November 6, 1924 in Rock Hill. Her parents were William Tillman Allen and Margaret Allison Allen. She was very proud to be a descendent of the Allison's, early settlers in York County, SC and the Allens, early settlers in Henderson County, NC, genealogy being a special interest.

She graduated from Rock Hill High School class of 1941. Her interests there was in music and drama. Plans for college failed so after taking a business course, she was employed in accounting departments at A&P General Offices, Charlotte, and War Assets Administrations, Charlotte and Celanese. Riding an early morning bus to Charlotte during wartime gas shortage was a challenge. Later she worked part time for various CPA, the lastest being Walter Martison.

In 1980, she and son Frank opened Tayberry Music, an on-line Irish and Scottish folk music business. As a result, she traveled to music festivals there, France and Nova Scotia.

She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where she was ordained as Deacon and Elder serving on Presbytery and Synod Committees particularly in missions. Music was an important part of her life as she sang in the church choir and York County Choral Society. She also started a kitchen band at the assisted living facility. She volunteered at Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen and York County Free Clinic.

She was predeceased by her husband Frank Tice,  son Ben Blackmon and grandson Will Blackmon. Survivng are sons, Frank Tice Jr. (Cissy), and Allen Tice (Mary), 8 grandchildern and 12 great grandchildern.

Memorial services will be held on October 2nd at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church, with a visitation to follow after.
