Isabel Carus

Maria “Isabel” Carús was the third of five children born to the late Jesús Manuel Carús and Purificacion Cid. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and when she was only 22 months old the family moved to México City. After graduating from high school, she worked at her father’s business as his right hand for 11 years. She quit her job to marry the love of her life, José Luis Montés, whom she married on March 12, 1966. In 1969, the young couple welcomed their first child, José Luis. Followed by Isa in 1971 and Manuel in 1974. Sadly, their youngest died unexpectedly in 1975.

Their home was always open to friends and family. Welcoming their nieces and nephews who had lost their parents or didn’t have a good relationship with them. In the late 1970’s the family took in Isabel’s parents, who lived with them until they passed away. God and family were always the center of Isabel’s life.

In 1987, she lost her leg to a car accident. Through the pain and challenges of it, she always had a smile, a kind word and lead by example. Not once was she heard asking “why?” or questioning God why He had allowed this to happen.

A woman with a wonderful wit and sense of humor, was most known by everyone by her unshakable faith, kind heart and beautiful smile.

She is survived by her son, José Luis Montés, his wife, Christine, daughters Isa Montés, and Cova Pato, grandchildren José and Alejandro Montés, sister Mercedes Carús and many nieces, nephews and friends who will dearly miss her.

The funeral Mass will be held at Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church on Friday, March 28, 2025.
