Marianne Pollander Jones

Marianne was born on January 26, 1930 to the late Leon Martin Pollander and Mary Louise Outterbridge Pollander in Hartford, Connecticut. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Earl Jones III of 67 of years; brother Peter Martin Pollander and granddaughter Megan Elizabeth Jones.

She is survived by her brother Leon Martin Pollander “Buddy” and three sons, William Earl Jones IV (Celeste Caskey), one granddaughter (Kelly Jones Quarles) and two great grandchildren (Kyler and Cameron); Richard David Jones (Hesta), one grandson (Doug) and three great grandchildren, (Gatlin, Miles and Josey); Thomas Martin Jones (Janet), two granddaughters (Jessica Jones Fleming and Heather Jones Osborne) and four great grandchildren (Haleigh & Maddox Fleming; Peyton and Palmer Osborne) and daughter Marianne Jones Sumner, two grandsons (Joshua and Daniel) and one great grandson (Riley).

Marianne worked for Wool Design and the City of Charlotte. She loved traveling, reading, cooking, spending time with family, watching movies and quilting. She was a member of the Persian Pickles Quilting Group with her friend of over 40 years, Argen Aycock.

Marianne went to be with our Lord to earn her wings. Our mother was deeply loved and was the glue that held the family together. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all.

A celebration of life will be held at South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church at 1:30 pm on December 4, 2024. A graveside service for the family will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte, NC.
