Marion Eugene Stevenson, Sr

Marion E. "Doodle" Stevenson, Sr., 77, of 828 Rush Ct., passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 at his residence. A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Stevenson was born June 28, 1931 a son of the late Provin and Ruby Wilson Stevenson. He was retired from Celanese after 42 years of service, was with the City of Rock Hill Rescue Squad for 15 years where he was Captain for 4 years. Mr. Stevenson was a US Navy Veteran and of the Pentecostal Faith. Surviving are his wife of 56 years Betty Garrett Stevenson; a son Marion Eugene "Gene" Stevenson, Jr. and his wife Denise of TN; two daughters Renee Stevenson Krauss and husband Joseph of KY , Susan Stevenson Lee and husband John of Rock Hill; one brother Johnny Stevenson of Rock Hill, two sisters Laurra Bodkins of Rock Hill and Sandra Copeland of Rock Hill; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:45 to 11:45am on Wednesday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Stevenson will be held Wednesday at 12:00pm in the Chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home with Reverend Rusty Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Post 2889 of Rock Hill.
