Mark Kevin Spoon entered into rest Tuesday January 7, 2025 due to natural causes.
Mark was born on August 1, 1961 in Wilmington, NC to Billy Ray Spoon and Marie Williams Spoon. The family lived there until moving to Charlotte in 1963, where Bill and Marie owned and operated Spoon's barbecue. Mark worked in the family business until joining the Navy out of high school. He started out in Nuclear Power School then transferred to submarines. He was recognized as an outstanding diesel and hydraulics mechanic during his career. In 1991, he was named Sailor of the year in the Pacific Fleet and was awarded his commendation by Colin Powell. Due to health reasons Mark was honorably discharged in 1993. He had various mechanic jobs for the rest of his career.
Mark accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young teenager while attending Ebenezer ARP Church in Charlotte.
Mark loved riding motorcycles and he collected knives and other War memorabilia.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, mother and granddaughter, Chloe Maddison Spoon. Mark is survived by sons Matthew Lee Spoon and William Justin Spoon 16 grand children and brothers, Stephen Ray Spoon.
Family Visitation will be Tuesday January 14, 2025 from 6-8pm at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC
The internment will be at Fort Jackson cemetery at a later date.
