Marlene Brodrick

March 25, 1933 — May 30, 2023

Fort Mill, SC

Take a second to realize how blessed you are.

Marlene "Mickey" Louise Bloom Brodrick, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother lived a full and happy life until she passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and sweet puppy, Brandy on May 30, 2023.

Born in Ware, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Julia and Rudy Bloom. She was preceded in death by her brother Ralph Bloom, sisters, Dot Chrabaszcz (George), Marie Slattery (Chuck) and Judy Kusek. She is survived by her sister-in-law Mary Bloom and brothers-in-law Edward Brodrick and Louie Kusek and several nieces and nephews.

She was happily married for 57 years to her loving husband George Brodrick until his death in 2012, together they have 6 children, Tommy (deceased), David, Rick (Mary Margaret), Diane (Larry), Alan, Amy (Don), 11 grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan (Lindsay), Jonathan, Jason (Amanda), Kimberly (George), Derek (Lindsey), Aaron, Kierstin, Spencer, Kyle, Austin and 6 great grandchildren, Owen, Bryce, Phillip, Wyatt, Parker, Sadie "Louise" and baby Floyd (Derek/Lindsey) on the way!

Mickey was a registered nurse but happily gave up her career to raise her children. She loved bowling, bingo with her dear friend Jane, and spending time with her late friends Marilyn and BJ. She had a quick wit, a great sense of humor and a loving heart. She would lovingly accept all our friends who needed a place to stay. Our house was the safe place for everyone to gather and there was never a quiet or dull moment. She loved to decorate for every holiday. She made sure we always had stockings and Easter baskets well into our 60's . Always made her bed and never went without her lipstick. She was quick with a saying, her favorite was "The good Lord willing and the creek don't rise" and always let us know "that getting old isn't for sissies". She was thoughtful, kind and would always lend a helping hand. She was a wonderful mother and friend and will be greatly missed.
