Martha Pressley Allen

Mrs. Martha Pressley Allen, 85, of 415 Willowbrook Ave., passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill. A native of York County, Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late Banks Cauthen Pressley and Mary Angeline Pressley. Born on April 4, 1925 she worked for Smith's Enterprises, was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and a homemaker and loving wife of 65 years. In addition to her parents Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Carol Allen and four siblings. Surviving are her husband Raymond Blanks Allen; two sons Ron Allen of Rock Hill and Eddie Allen (Karen) of Gaffney; one sister Bo Knight of Rock Hill and one brother; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Allen will be held Wednesday at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home with Rev. Pam Ledbetter officiating. The family requests that only immediate family attend the committal. The family will receive friends from one o'clock until the hour of service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Allen to The Building Fund c/o Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2115 Celanese Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
