Martha Simpson Brannen

Mrs. Martha Simpson Brannen, 84, of Edgemoor, SC passed away Monday, December 7, 2010 at Piedmont Medical Center. A native of Edgemoor, Mrs. Brannen was a daughter of the late Chalmers and Bessie Simpson. Born on April 11, 1926 Mrs. Brannen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a member of Edgemoor ARP Church, a graduate of Edgemoor High School, a Sunday School teacher for Edgemoor ARP, a member of the FCL Club, the Jolly Quilters, and a member of the Women of the Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Lindsey Brannen, Jr. after 43 years of marriage; two brothers Walter Helms of Edgemoor and Warren Simpson of Edgemoor who was killed in action during WWII in the South Pacific. Surviving are her children Jane and David McCain of Richburg, SC, Jenny and Jack Cornwell of Rock Hill, SC, JoAnn and Glenn McFadden of Fort Lawn, SC, Jackie Martin of Edgemoor, and Jamie and Tish Brannen also of Edgemoor; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Brannen will be held Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Edgemoor ARP Church at 2:00pm. Visitation will be from 1 o'clock until the hour of service in the church. Interment will follow the service in Edgemoor ARP Church Cemetery.
