Martha Louise Mcguirt Coley

Mrs. Martha Louise McGuirt Coley, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, August 5, 2016, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.

Visitation will be Monday, August 8, 2016, from 2 - 4 pm at Greater Life Baptist Church, 17025 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, NC 28277. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 4 p.m. at the church with Rev. Tim Blue officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born on December 22, 1931, Mrs. Coley was a daughter of the late Carl McGuirt, Sr. and Carrie Elizabeth McGuirt. Mrs. Coley was lovingly known by friends and family as "Sis", "Gran" and "Granny". She loved her Lord and her church. She was a longtime member of Independent Bible Baptist Church, now known as Greater Life Baptist Church. She was a great cook and well known for her spaghetti and her banana pudding. She was a content woman, happy at home, and it thrilled her for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to come see her. She would stand on the porch and wave goodbye to you until she could not see you any longer. We loved hearing her stories about raising six children. She loved watching the boys play baseball. She was a hard working woman that also managed to raise her family. She and her husband loved to travel out west and made many trips taking family and friends with them.

Mrs. Coley is survived by her husband of 64 years, John Daniel Coley, Sr.; her children, Carl Jackson Coley (Gail) of Gastonia, NC, Randolph Scott Coley and his wife, Debra of Rock Hill, SC, Arthur Kelly Coley of Rock Hill, SC, Marshall Derrick Coley of Melbourne, FL, and Sheila Elizabeth Coley Barfield and her husband, Tim of Lancaster, SC; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Baker of Lancaster, SC and Shirley Osborne of Rock Hill, SC.

In additions to her parents, Mrs. Coley was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Daniel Coley, Jr., a sister, Betty Johnson and a brother, Carl McGuirt, Jr.
