Though Martha Lynn Matthews of Fort Mill did not have a chance to write her obituary before her transition to heaven on March 9, she did have a chance to question why people could not speak up, her hearing aids always worked.
Her journey on this rock began in 1960 in the “city of brotherly love”, Philadelphia to the delight of Carl and Martha Matthews. They had no idea that Lynn would be a quick witted, smart, fun-loving daughter that would touch so many lives.
Her 62-year journey would take her to Winston-Salem, Hong Kong, Summit, Converse College, Hendersonville, and then to Fort Mill (the mecca of South Carolina). All the while, giving of herself to the community by supporting local Women’s Outreach Shelters and Animal Rescues. As we know, Lynn was a planner. Thus, prior to Covid she must have had foresight into the upcoming precious commodity market demands for toilet paper, any type of battery, ice, and Hollandaise sauce.
As the time neared for her to leave us after fighting an unexpected battle with an aggressive cancer, she was surrounded with love from her family and friends. Truly a testament to her and how she had touched the lives of so many.
She is survived by Beaux, her mother, brother, niece, and nephew who swear she is probably enjoying the dock at Lynn Haven or the beach on Edisto. Her niece and nephew will miss fighting over who will be her partner in playing cards.
While she will no longer have to worry about another product release for the financial services industry, her angel wings have been spread so that she may be released to Heaven. God Speed Lynn, you will be missed.
