Martin H. Kimbrell

May 22, 1931 — September 1, 2009

Martin H. Kimbrell, Jr, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at his home from congestive heart failure. He was born on May 22, 1931 to the late Martin H. Kimbrell, Sr. and the late Ethel Phillips Kimbrell and raised in the Ogden community of Rock Hill. He was the last survivor of four children. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Henry Kimbrell and two sisters Carolyn Kimbrell Sims and Doris Kimbrell Mather. Mr. Kimbrell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Men's #6 Sunday school class. He also served his Lord at Oakdale Baptist Church as deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth leader and choir member. He also served Trinity as an elder and was instrumental in the beginning work for Trinity Christian School. Mr. Kimbrell was a veteran of the Korean War. After his tour of service he worked for Rock Hill Printing and Finishing. He later made a career for 34 years at Life Insurance of Virginia. Mr. Kimbrell is survived by his wife of 58 years Nancy Tucker Kimbrell; his daughter Debbie Kimbrell Miller and her husband Walter; a son Michael Kimbrell and his wife Kacey; two granddaughters Shannon Franey and her husband Chris, and Mikayla Kimbrell; three great grandsons Houston, Noah and Aydon; also numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Mr. Kimbrell's life will be held Friday at 2:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Slawson and Tom Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Thursday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home and other times at the home.
