Mary Ligon Brooks, 91, died peacefully Friday, July 14, 2017 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community, where she had been a resident since 1998. A native of Easley, SC, she was the daughter of the late Henry Ligon and Gracia Carson Ligon. Mary graduated from Winthrop College and was married to the late W.W. (Dick) Brooks. She was a retired teacher from Rock Hill School District 3. While living in Rock Hill, she was an active member of Northside Baptist Church. After moving to Laurens, she was a member of First Baptist Church Laurens. Her children are the late William W. (Bill) Brooks of Boiling Springs, SC - wife, Ruth Ann, Elise Brooks Camp of Inman - husband, Arden Camp. Her grandchildren are Matthew Brooks - wife, Kim of Inman SC, Jonathan Brooks - wife, Lori of Wilson, NC, Mollie Camp Jackson - husband, Michael of Inman, SC, and Paul Camp - wife, Kellie of Durham, NC. She was also blessed with 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother James T. Ligon - wife, Barbara of Pendleton, SC and a sister, Sarah Grace Foard - husband David of Charlotte, NC. She was predeceased by a sister, Amy Sowell - husband, Melvin of Easley, SC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:30 PM on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd, Rock Hill, SC. The service will follow at 3:00 PM at the graveside at Grandview Memorial Park, 620 Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC. The service will be conducted by Mary's grandsons Paul Camp and Jonathan Brooks.
