Mary L. Chappell, 81, of Tega Cay, SC, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at home. She was born May 11, 1937 in Duluth, Minnesota, daughter of the late Earl and Helen Hubbard Lambert.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jacqueline Lambert of Port Charlotte, Florida.
Mary has been an active member of the Tega Cay and Fort Mill communities since 1972 when the Chappell family moved here as one of the earliest residents of the Tega Cay development. She welcomed many new residents and families and supported local businesses for more than a decade as a Welcome Wagon hostess, as well as working as a real estate assistant. She was a former stewardess for Braniff Airways in the late 1950s and was a BeautiControl representative throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. One of her many joys was volunteering for local hospitals and helping care for individuals in assisted living. She had a deep faith and enjoyed many spiritual outlets, including participating in a long-standing bible study group, an A.R.E. Search for God study group and was a cherished member of the Lake Wylie Lutheran Church. She loved walking in her neighborhood, attending chair yoga classes with friends, and looked forward to the Silver Sneakers classes at the YMCA (especially the Friday class!). Her biggest joys in life were her family and wide circle of friends and most especially her two beloved granddaughters.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Anne Chappell of Bordentown, NJ; son, Craig P. Chappell and wife, Christiane Dresch of Medway, MA; and grandchildren, Alexa Marie and Chloe Mae.
